Name: Severus Tobias Snape Nicknames: Sev (Only used by Lily Potter, and not since they were children.) Age: 38 (Not de-aged from canon. Given wizards live ~200 years, he's still a long way from ancient.) Birthday: January 9, 1960 Bloodline: Half-Blood Prince ;^> Sexuality: Bisexual, but so distrustful and standoffish that almost everyone mistakes him for asexual. Place of Residence: A two-up two-down in Spinner's End, Halifax, Yorkshire. Appearance Height: Just on 6 feet. Build: Painfully scrawny - he tries to hide this fault under voluminous robes. The only muscle on him is in his arms and chest from hours spent stirring thick brews. Eyes: Black Hair: Black Distinguishing Marks: Heavily scarred from curses and more mundane beatings Other/general description: His voice is as mellow and cultured as he is not. His Uppercrust-Pureblood diction and manner is the result of careful schoolboy study of Lucius Malfoy. Only when he has been driven to a furious rant do hints of a Yorkshire accent begin to creep in. His movements are silent, even when he's not trying to sneak up on anyone. Wand: Ebony, Peruvian Vipertooth heartstring core, 13 inches, slashy, excellent for curses. A foreman at the local mill, who fell onto hard times when the mill closed. Too fond of 'a few' for the health of his family or of their meagre finances. Mother: Eileen Moira Prince ('Bitch' to Tobias). The Princes are Purebloods but have always been desperately poor: the name itself may have been adopted by the family in a fit of sarcastic self-mockery. They sorted into Slytherin almost as regularly as Weasleys sorted into Gryffindor, but there were far fewer of them. Severus was the accidental result of a single night of drunken 'slumming'. Eileen's family promptly disowned her, and to spite them she not only kept the pregnancy but married Tobias. Depression from the resulting fights sapped her magic so much that by the time Severus could walk she was practically a squib. So Severus borrowed the wand she no longer had use for to practice his more dubious spells, becoming a crack shot with Unforgiveables during summer hols. Sibling(s): None Cousins: Some on both sides of the family, but he's never met those on his mother's side because her family disowned her, and his father's alcoholism means his family doesn't bring the kids on the rare occasions when they visit him. Pets: None since his familiar in school, a Common Toad (Bufo bufo) called Bert. Current Occupation: (if applicable) Potions and Dark Arts researcher, Spellwright. Returnee: Yes Personality Personality: Highly intelligent, self-reliant. An outsider all his life, he's an astute though disaffected observer of human nature. A life where the only people who haven't abused him wanted to use him has left him embittered and cynical. He almost always uses his verbal wit to cut his enemies (virtually everyone) down to size. Special abilities/strengths: A force to be reckoned with in both Dark Arts and Potions. An expert fighter, with combat rather than formalised duelling experience. Gifted in rare magics (Legilimency and Occlumency). Unusually logical mind for a wizard. The only person shown in canon inventing new spells while still in school. Inventor of a revolutionary broomless flight spell, the secret of which he was later forced to share with Voldemort. Faults: His abrasive manner and arrogance often makes enemies. Even when people are not badly disposed toward him, his cynicism makes him believe the worst of those around him. This deprives him of the help and support available to most other people, who have circles of friends to rely on. Relevant backstory: Snape returned to the world of Breaking Point from immediately before meeting Voldemort in the Shrieking Shack, and so had not been attacked by Nagini. | |||||||||
